According to the CDC approximately 20% (50 Million) of US adults have chronic pain. That’s a staggering number. Many people seek medications to be able to deal with the pain. The excessive reliance on pain medications have unfortunately lead to abuse and addiction on an epidemic scale. Fortunately there are other options outside of prescription medication. There is evidence supporting natural pain relief with CBD Oil.
You may be doing some research on pain treatment options and intentionally trying to avoid medications. Perhaps utilizing CBD Oil as a part of your regiment can be able to give you relief utilizing a natural alternative to prescription or over the counter medications.
What can make it even more appealing is that the side effects of CBD Oil are limited. If you look at your other more popular medicated treatments they come with some unpleasant side effects and potential for abuse and addition.
Think that some of the over the counter pain medications are safe? Acetaminophen (Brand Name Tylenol) are much more dangerous then you think.
So what does the research say. Has CBD Oil been used successfully to relieve pain? Lets review some clinical studies and review the results.
Research Shows Beneficial Use of CBD Oil For Pain
This 2013 study references that cannabinoids have the ability to relieve various chronic pain conditions. It has great promise to treat peripheral and central neuropathic pain. The study also referenced how cannabinoids may have another therapeutic benefit by helping to manage pain with regard to sleep. This shows one of the indirect means in which CBD oil can be helpful for improving quality of sleep.
Interesting enough the study concluded by mentioning how these compounds could provide people living with pain a safe and effective treatment for relief.
Effective Relief of Pain
Research has been performed to show how cannabinoids can be useful with pain associated with multiple sclerosis and cancer. The study was published back in 2008 but also notes how CBD had the ability to destroy cancer cells. There have been numerous studies referencing CBD oils ability to destroy cancer cells.
This doesn’t mean it is a silver bullet for cancer, much more needs to be done in order to get more definitive answers. I’m sure there is someone researching more in depth as we speak.
However it should help provoke some curiosity and further research into the subject. The following posts (Can CBD Oil Help Treat Cancer) and (Could Understanding The Endocannabinoid System Reveal Potential Cancer Treatments?) give a little more background information on those subject specifically.
This 2009 study references the strategies of using cannabinoids as medicine. The therapeutic benefits researched included pain management, anti-cancer properties, some gastrointestinal disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease, and multiple sclerosis.
CBD Oil Relieving Arthritis Pain
Another CBD Oil benefit includes its ability to ease pain associated with osteoarthritis. According to 2017 published study the CBD treatment prevented the development of pain and nerve damage in the effected joints on male Wistar Rats. The findings in the study suggest that CBD Oil is a safe treatment for osteoarthritis pain.
CBD oil helps to control inflammation and inflammation response, this leads to the relief in pain. The amount of success from patients has taken notice with experts in the field. In fact the level of success caught attention from a national foundation which led them to help develop new guidelines for patients.
Does CBD Oil Offers Pain Patients A Safer Alternative VS Opioids?
Research continues to show the benefits of CBD Oil use to relieve a variety of pain conditions for patients. The other more common medicated treatment include use of opioids which have proven to be highly addictive and subject to abuse.
Just how bad is the opioid crisis? There are 130 deaths daily in the US and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the opioid abuse has an estimated economic burden of $78.5 billion annually.

What Are Some Additional Details in Regards To The Opioid Crisis
National Safety Council | Prescription Opioid Crisis dir: Tucker Walsh from Ed David on Vimeo.
Here are a few stats from the National Institute of Drug Abuse to show the crisis level in the US.
- Approximately 25% of patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain misuse them
- Approximately 10 % develop an opioid use disorder
- Its estimated that about 5% who misuse prescribed opioids transition to heroin
- Around 80% of people that use heroin first abused prescribed opioids
- Opioids overdoses increased by 54% in 16 states in large cities.
The Bottom Line
As scrutiny to decrease the amount of opioids prescribed to patients increases, both medical practitioners and patients look for effective safe pain management treatments. Many more patients are beginning to take a greater wellness and holistic perspective of their overall health and seeker safer and more natural alternatives.
The increased chances of addiction, abuse and negative side effects can often outweigh the benefits of use. Fortunately CBD Oil has been shown to have very beneficial use for patients with pain.
As always, consult with your physician for specific medical questions. This is especially important if you are taking any other medications and supplements to avoid any interactions.

I have really only recently started hearing about CBD oil as a treatment, but never looked in to it because I associated it with THC. You have a post that explained the difference. Mind blown!
So the after reading through your site, I see many benefits of CBD oil. With very few side effects (or at least way more tolerable ones than common medication), I am struggling to find any downside. Can people abuse CBD oil? Is it addictive?
Thanks for the informative post (and the rest of the website)
Nate
Hey Nate – thanks for stopping by. Most people may associate THC and CBD as one, I did at one time. Once I learned more about it I felt more compelled to share the info. You are correct that there are so many benefits with limited if any side effects. The common denominator in the peer reviewed research has been its safety of use and it is non habit forming (https://mycbdoilsolution.com/the-side-effects-of-cbd-oil/) Even with high dosing the researchers referenced its safety.
Another eye opening detail is that opioids (pain medications) can effect the breathing centers of the brain when overdosed – CBD does not.
